Convenors Needed, Answer the Call

At our last meeting Win Johnson spoke about the importance of volunteers and the impact they have on the success of the club. Here is a summary of her important message:

“We have recently completed registration renewal for this year, and we can offer memberships to some of the people on the waiting list.  Sadly, we can only offer a restricted number of new memberships.

Very simply, it’s due to availability in Activities. When we register new members, they obviously want to be involved with Activities – one of the main reasons they want to join the club. We are, after all, a social club. If the activities cannot handle more members – their roster is full – new members are unable to join Activities of their choice – very disappointing for them, and we feel we have let them down.

We need to open new branches of some of the Activities, to allow more members to participate in Activities with groups at a reasonable size. What is the stumbling block? VOLUNTEERS – we need more volunteers to help to run additional branches of Activities – and create availability for more members to join groups.

The Activity Convenors are vital to the success of the club. There is minimal time, responsibility and work involved in being a convenor but the HUGE benefit to the club that the conveners provide is immeasurable.

I am asking each of you to consider volunteering to help, giving a small amount of your valuable time to being involved as a convenor or a co-convenor.

I hope you will give this serious thought. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.”

Anyone who is interested should speak to Win Johnson or Christine Billington, who will welcome you with open arms.
