For our first monthly meeting in 2025, Dr. Gary Crawford presents “Frauds & Conspiracies in the World of Archaeology”.
Dr. Crawford is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Anthropology, University of Toronto Mississauga. He is an archaeologist whose main interests are human ecology and ancient agriculture in Eastern North America, Japan, and China. He has coauthored a textbook on world archaeology and published widely in archaeological science. He has taught thousands of students in a variety of courses and hosted an educational television series for TVOntario.
Over the course of his career, he and his colleagues fought the increasing trend that presents outdated and incorrect views of the past which are popularized in series such as Ancient Aliens, The Curse of Oak Island, and Ancient Apocalypse.
