July 14 Meeting and Speaker

This month’s speaker is author and geopolitical analyst George Takach.

George believes we are in a new Cold War and that technology and innovation will be the key to whether the democracies or the autocracies win this struggle, and why supporting Taiwan matters for global democracy. He will also address what it all means for Canada. In addition, George will share his thoughts on the impact of the Trump administration.  After his presentation, there will be a chance for questions and discussion.

George will have copies of his latest book for purchase and signing, with all proceeds from book sales going to Camp Scugog, a charitable camp dedicated to serving kids in difficult circumstances.

George Takach has undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Toronto, and an MA from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. He practiced technology law for 35+ years as a partner at McCarthy Tetrault. During his legal career, he was also an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School for 22 years, a columnist for Lexpert Magazine, and wrote three books on tech/law topics. Currently, he writes books on technology and geopolitics for a general audience, including Inspired by Taiwan, published in 2026.
