June 11 Meeting and Speaker

On June 11 we welcome Dave Taylor, Wildlife Photographer as our speaker. He will present “Ontario Survivors”, featuring three Southern Ontario species; white-tailed deer, coyote and black bear. The last ice age helped shape the world we live in (locally and country wide) and part of that legacy includes 7 species of large mammals that are uniquely North American and each has a story to tell that helps us understand the world we live in. The presentation focuses on the three Southern Ontario species and the lessons we can take away.

Dave Taylor is both wildlife photographer and author of more than 45 books, ebooks and dozens of magazine articles on wildlife and ecology. His most recent books are “North American Survivors” (2024) and “Black Bears: A Natural History” (2019).

Dave has traveled throughout the world capturing nature with his camera. He frequently visits Tanzania where he guides wildlife safaris.

After teaching science and geography for more than 30 years and teaching nature photography at Humber College for more than 25 years, he recently retired as the Educational Program Director of the Riverwood Conservancy.

For more than 30 years Dave taught public school. In the senior grades he specialized in science and geography where field trips were an integral part of his curriculum. He was always a teacher, even as a youngster as he was sharing stories about wildlife to his friends and even his teachers. Dave has a library of over 300 videos on his YouTube channel.
